This Vieux Paris porcelain teapot/nightlight, dating from the late 19th century, perfectly illustrates the delicate art of Parisian manufacturers. Originally designed to hold a tea incense burner, it has been transformed into a decorative lamp, blending heritage and modernity.

The lower section, pierced with small holes, diffuses a soft, warm light once the bulb is lit. The hand-painted decorations depict bucolic scenes: on one side, a rural landscape with a cottage, trees, and a river; on the other, two young people by the water's edge, the young woman waving a scarf. These motifs, with their vibrant colors and lively atmosphere, capture the romantic spirit of the era.

A few signs of age attest to its authenticity: wear to the gilded highlights, small losses inside the lid (invisible when closed), and the replacement of the porcelain ball on the lid with a gilded metal one. Despite these signs of wear, the piece remains in good working order. However, the original fabric-covered electrical system should be replaced to meet current safety standards.

Produced between 1770 and 1850, Paris porcelain, known as "Vieux Paris" (Old Paris) , is renowned for its brilliant whiteness, its luster, and its hand-painted decorations, often embellished with gold. Inspired by antiquity and nature, it reflects the major neoclassical and romantic trends of the 19th century. Each piece is unique, a true testament to the history of French decorative arts.

Transformed into a lamp, this nightlight teapot becomes a unique object, a legacy of the past and a luminous creation.
