This is a unique creation, born from the transformation of an elm wood pulley into a stylish and original accent lamp. The side holes reveal the original metal parts, allowing for the easy insertion of an electrical system to accommodate a large bulb, thus giving the piece its distinctive character.
The red-stained wood, as found on a nearby farm, has been preserved in its natural state. The pulley's original form remains intact, the wood having not been reworked. Only its contemporary transformation into a light fixture now gives it a new aesthetic and functional purpose.
The elm wood used for this creation possesses exceptional qualities: hard, dense, and elastic, it could withstand significant mechanical stress. Before the widespread use of metals, it was highly prized for making pulleys, wheels, axles, and other mechanical parts. Relatively resistant to water and rot, it was perfectly suited to parts exposed to friction and repetitive movements. Its natural flexibility allowed it to withstand impacts, which was essential for antique mechanisms.
Equipped with a 220V socket, with switch.
