This antique necklace, originating from China, is composed of 18 round cloisonné beads, separated by small twisted gold-plated metal balls. The ratchet clasp (a small box holds a spring-loaded tab) reflects the elegance of traditional jewelry.
The warm brick background of the beads highlights a refined floral design, where the Yellow, white, pale green, sky blue and purple. Each bead seems to carry a small enameled garden, revealing the delicacy of this ancestral know-how.
Cloisonné is a goldsmithing and enameling technique that originated in China over 600 years ago. It involves creating a design using fine metal wires soldered onto a copper, brass, or silver base. The resulting cells are filled with colored enamel powder and then fired at very high temperatures (800–1000°C). After several firings and meticulous polishing, the designs emerge, luminous and smooth, separated by fine metal lines that outline the decoration.
An accessory and a testament to refined craftsmanship, this necklace is an original and timeless piece.
