A refined relic of a bygone era, this antique glove box captivates with its understated elegance. Its rectangular shape, designed to neatly hold the gloves once essential to any elegant outfit, reflects the taste and customs of a time when attention to detail defined style. A small key secures the closure.
Made from pawlonia wood, one of the lightest yet robust woods in the world, it originates from East Asia. The wood is finished with a shimmering red lacquer, using a special technique. ancestral technique requiring patience and mastery: meticulous preparation of the support, layering and sanding of thin coats of lacquer, then application of a hand-painted decoration.
The signed lid glows with warm carmine red tones, enlivened by a floral motif. The sides are adorned with maple leaves (momiji), a poetic symbol of autumn in Asia, often celebrated in Japanese art. The black lacquered interior enhances the contrast and depth of the whole.
The object carries The marks of its history: chips in the lacquer, a slight flaw in the wood… all these traces of time add to its great age.
